Fifth Zilatran General and Deputy Secretarial Elections: Iuminov-Iuminov Ticket Wins Secretaryship, Lenja Iuminov is the New GenSec

HARJUBA — On February 10th, applications opened once again for the positions of General and Deputy Secretary, the heads of the executive branch in Zilatra. This 5th election proved to be among the most straightforward in our nation’s history, with only two tickets engaging in the race with an undisputed outcome. On one side was the partnership of Foreign Commissar Toku’aui Ronango’o and Premier Szal si Ahuden, campaigning off of increased accountability and security for the state. Meanwhile, the other ticket held the family duo of Lenja and Ivan Iuminov, both active figures in the communes of Transaria and Lasaji respectively. They focused on broad appeal issues such as independent economic policy from Sentara, introducing building materials to the citizen’s market, increasing cooperation with ASI allies such as Krasnoi, and increasing funding for the Zilatra Security Department. Both sides were on the whole very similar to each other, and the majority of Zilatrans viewed both the Ronango’O-Ahuden and Iuminov tickets as valid and potentially successful leaders for the nation. However, most people ended up preferring the more concrete plans that the Iuminovs had to offer, and as such voted them into office on Valentine’s Day in a 60-30% popular election, the third largest margin in Zilatran history. With their cabinet fully approved on the 17th, the Iuminov administration has thus far proven itself to be a fairly functional organization. The citizen’s market has been constructed and is now fully operational, an expansion of the previous design used during the Abusaja-Note government and fully separate from Sentara. Additionally, Zilatra has fostered cooperation with many other nations, such as active participation in ASI congresses and working with the United States of Adramis closely. The future, from this point, looks bright. ■
