Hisoka Wins First National Katruji Contest
Hisoka has won the title of Katruji Grandmaster after winning the first official national Katruji contest. The contest saw twelve participants, from new players to experienced masters, battling in Lasaji's grand hall through a knockout format. The tournament was hosted by former Deputy Secretary Ahudenya si Dal and Alexeyev Maxim, the founder of the sport and author of the rulebook. The tournament was played as Katruji swept the country, a growth many have attributed to its accessibility and simple rules. Several communes have already constructed boards while an entire complex dedicated to the sport in the works in Lasaji, designed to allow simultaneous games to handle larger tournaments. A formal association has been legislated to oversee the burgeoning sport and to organise future tournaments, labelled the KOZM by the Katruji Nation Sport Act. The name is a nod to their role in popularising the sport. It seems the sky is the limit for the Katruji community, and there is already talk of organised international and inter-town tournaments that could bring even more to the sport.
