Katruji – A God-Forsaken Game?

Katruji – A God-Forsaken Game?
Former Deputy Secretary, Comrade Zaaki Iletriosa won the Fourth Maxim Bell Tournament

Twice now, lightning has struck. Once during the Fourth Maxim Bell Tournament near Pturion Zunes, and again at the newly constructed four-player (2 vs. 2) Katruji board near the docks of Hafumel. Across the nation, Katruji players are beginning to ask a chilling question: What is going on?

The first incident - the so-called Maxim Bell Incident - occurred on 20.09.2025, Spring of 134 VE, when a sudden lightning strike hit the entire playing area. Initially, the event was dismissed as a side effect of a ritual taking place in the Second Republic of Kaddu.

However, further investigation and an interview with Dekvjon Rytzak-Yoaken, who was present in Kaddu, contradicted these assumptions. Rytzak-Yoaken confirmed that no such weather occurred in Kaddu at the time of the ritual. And so it was quickly forgotten about.

That is, until it happened again.

On 23.09.2025, Winter of 135 VE, during a 2v2 Katruji match just outside the walls of Hafumel in Hajamal Province, lightning once again struck. Eyewitnesses report the immediate appearance of grotesque, zombie-like creatures crawling out from alleyways and emerging at the waterfront.

Multiple residents responded quickly and were able to deal with the zombies easily, and sweeps of the area did not produce any further anomalies. No source of both the lightning or the zombies could be found and so citizens are left wondering: Which God of Abexilas has developed a dislike of the famous Zilatran boardgame? And why are they trying to stop us?

In any case, this has only raised the stakes for playing.
