Opinion on the Crimson Quill's Poll

The results of the Crimson Quill's 1st Opinion Poll have just been released, and it's safe to say that they have brought embarrassment to many of the Quill's political analysts here in HQ. Firstly, the analysts forecasted that GenSec Yadal Krakhovich would obtain approval ratings between 53-64% only for him to up with 76.8%. The forecast for DepSec Ahudenya si Dal was between 70-80% only for her to obtain 69.8%, falling just short of expectations. Partisan Chair Pieter Venkesel Jr., also greatly exceeded expectations as it was forecasted he'd obtain between 20-40% due to his position as a relative newcomer only for him to get a 51.2% rating. the only one who the forecasts got right was Premier Diogo Ronango'O, whose forecasts were expected between 70-75% and he got 74.4%.

Now let's get to the actually interesting part, the ticket polling. Although chosen mainly out of boredom or silliness, the tickets brought by the poll were not necessarily unrealistic, especially as they offered a change for Hyradian Kiriznia and Abusaja si Baqia to have an unofficial rematch against Yadal Krakhovich and Ahudenya si Dal. Unsurprisingly, the Yadal-Ahudenya ticket still won the most votes but they barely crossed 30% as other tickets proved surprisingly popular. This brings us to a question, will the next GenSec elections finally be truly competitive.

Thus far each GenSec election (only 2, but still) has seen a two-way race which, to be honest, made them predictable especially with the comfort of incumbency. But now as Krakhovich reaches his term limit, a larger population, and thus a greater possibility of more people running for office, it is safe to expect much more interesting election from now on. Perhaps the poll will encourage some to rise to the task and seek victory in the next election.

But if DepSec Ahudenya si Dal chooses to run, the story would be different no matter what. It is sad to say, but incumbency genuinely helps candidates in elections. So let's hope that the DepSec, which for now we don't know much about, will reveal herself to be an interesting refrom-orientated candidate.
