Partisan Chair shot during public address

LASAJI - The nation is in shock, after an attempt upon the life of Note Krizinia, Partisan Chair of the Xerosit Union Party . Comrade Krizinia was shot while delivering an address against alcohol in the Lasaji Square.
The assassin, a citizen of Zilatra whose identity remains classified by the Zilatra Security Department, was arrested by ZSD officers. Comrade Krizinia is stationed into Lasaji Hospital, where doctors describe his condition as “grave, though stable.”
In the moments before the assassination attempt, comrade Krizinia urged the people to stop the violence, respect the law, and abstain from drink. His words, however, were drowned by the report of gunfire, and the scene dissolved into panic.

The attempt comes amid rise of civil unrest in the country, since the enactment of the Prohibition of Alcohol Act. The law has seen crime rise sharply, with the ZSD engaging in constant raids and crack dows against illegal bars and hidden breweries.
Raids have been conducted in several communes, with Yaczaya emerging as the chief centre of illegal traffic. Only days ago, contraband imports were uncovered and suppressed in the town.

As the violence spreads, questions now resound across the country: is the prohibition really worth it?
