Protests arise after the new Kelita bill.

Gaszalasi, - A wave of discord has swept across the nation following the passage of the “Prohibition of Alcohol” bill (K.B. 144), with the backing of 60% cent of the Kelitá. The law, designed to outlaw the manufacture and consumption of intoxicating drink, has provoked widespread and spirited opposition, erupting into violence in several communes, notably Hafumel, Yaczya, Transaria, and the capital of Zilatra, Gaszalasi.
In Gaszalasi itself, disturbances turned to open riot. Crowds clashed with officers of the Zilatra Security Department guarding the Kelitá building. Armed elements are reported to have joined the mob, storming both the Kelitá building and the People’s Library, whilst crying for “justice” and the repeal of prohibition.
The unrest raged for five hours before the authorities were able to regain command of the capital. Numerous officers and civilians were wounded in the course of the affray and now lie under medical care at Gaszalasi Hospital.
Opposition to the new law is not confined to the streets. Voices of dissent have arisen within the Kelitá itself and among other central committee members. Of note comrade Marko Dražan, newly elected Kelita representative, who ran on a anti-prohibition programme, presence of comrade Marko in the assembly has undisputedly given weight to the movement against the measure.

The country waits with as events unfold, uncertain of what the future may bring.
