Tenth Kelita Elected: Premier Campaign Begins

Twelve new Kelita representatives have been elected out of a field of sixteen to form the tenth Kelita, kicking off the campaign for the premiership.

GASZALASI - The Kelita election campaign has concluded, with twelve representatives elected out of sixteen candidates. In contrast to the recent General Secretary election, the campaign was a sedate affair, with only six candidates offering any platform and only one endorsement: Alisa Nikitina backing Leon Zopasku.

The new Kelita will look significantly different to its predecessor, with only four representatives retaining seats.

Incumbent Vice-Premier Ilyich Yefremovich took out top spot, while the ex-Latrian General Secretary Faelyn Lancaster won Seat II in a successful first foray into national politics. Vivian Peret, a former President of Adramis, also made her Zilatran political debut by winning Seat III.

With incumbent Premier Samintra Bahri moving to executive politics, the election for leader of the Kelita is wide open. At the time of writing two tickets have declared their candidacy for what is shaping up to be another tight election: Assia Kuznecova and Leon Kerexon. The daughter of long-time representative Luca Kuznecov - Assia Kuznecova - will run with political outsider Faelyn Lancaster, campaigning on efficiency and maintaining the status quo. They will be challenged by perennial premiership candidate Leon Kerexon, who has joined forces with previous Vice-Premier and current Seat I holder Ilyich Yefremovich. Kerexon's campaign has focussed on meetings, transparency, and fair criticism.

With a significant backlog of unfinished legislation coming from the last term, the coming Kelita is expected to be highly active, regardless of the Premier.
