The Right Hand of Darkness
Transcription of Abbt Prym's sermon to the Gonfist crowd:
There is no enemy but the sinful nature of all mankind.
Oh my brothers and sisters! Why must we divide ourselves between nations? Why must we spread hate and malice on the basis of one's fealty? Why should we look at each other not as humans, but as archetypes of the villains we expect to see? For are we not all the kin of the same race? Are we not citizens of the same world nation, bowing only to the governance of the laws of the universe, however they came to be? Do we not shed the same blood on the fields of the Earth we share as one society?
On my brothers and sisters, sons and daughters! Lay down your arms, for you are but branches of the same tree of life! Not only the same tree, but the same arm, the very same outstretched genetic divergence that unites us all in our world. As a good man once said, "Ye are but leaves of one tree and the fruits of one branch," so why must we burn the very roots of what binds us to reality?
Oh my brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, heed love not hate! For the venom we spread is but poison in our veins. Any obstacle to our collective progress is an obstacle to one's own, every impediment to the leaps of mankind is a chain to the step of your march to prosperity. And heed unity, not division! For those who preach chaos seek only to satisfy the raw vanity hanging on every one of our souls. And heed peace, not war! For war breaks down our bonds on the basis of nothing but sloth and greed, short-sighted aims in the race for human victory over the abyss.
As another man once said, "Love shall tread out the fire of anger, and in its ashes plant a tree of peace!"
