GASZALASI — As another day came and went for the average citizen in Zilatra, the Xeroist Union Party held its most recent general meeting in 164 VE during the VII Party Congress chaired by Yegede si Lasaya, the Partisan Chair. This Congress had the goal of ironing out specific issues and topics that party members wanted to discuss and come to an agreement on, specifically in regards to both international and domestic affairs, however the meeting faced some complications as it was held.

The Congress was bogged down on one singular issue which became the main talking point party members focused on during the entire duration of the meeting, that being if Zilatra could be considered to follow a socialist system practically or not, debates flew around the building and discussions became somewhat heated as people interrupted and talked over each other during the meeting, but eventually a reasonable conclusion was reached where most people agreed that Zilatra needed many more reforms and changes for it to transition into a full fledged socialist system and that certain issues, especially that of the multi-branched structure of the government, hindered this transition from occurring.

In relation to this, a discussion afterwards about implementing the BBWG reforms was also considered as a hypothetical pathway to implement these new reforms with Yegede si Lasaya promising to implement them in their most recent term as Partisan Chair of the Party, although so far no proposal for it has been made as a referendum or bill.

Alongside this, the issue of Zilatran newcomers failing to fully understand and embrace Xeroism was also given notice to, with figures like Wanja Ivanonič pointing out that dissolving the Young Xeroist League didn’t bring much benefit and activity to the Party or even allowed more people to fully join it, however others still believed it was necessary to dissolve the organisation due to its clear inactivity, which also would put a stress on the main Party itself.

Due to the prolonged nature of this discussion and its focus primarily on one specific point alone, it was agreed upon that an additional Party Congress should be held to discuss the remaining points that were still left, such as internationally for foreign policy and the XeroIntern, and domestically for education, activity and the economy. This was planned to be held in 166 VE but an unfortunate delay prevented that from happening, and the date for the next Party Congress has not been disclosed to the rest of the Party.

Regardless of its many issues, this Congress did help in establishing a consensus that Zilatra needs further improvement and change to prosper and thrive going forward. It helped to make more party members aware of the political issues facing Zilatra today and to help determine its future through their own collective and democratic will and mass action. It is only through recognising our faults that we can improve and move forward to the future.
