Yadal and Ahudenya Martyred by Anti-Xeroists

GASZALASI - Last Tuesday morning, two large explosive blasts erupted in the communes of Gaszalasi and Lasaji at the homes of Zilatra's founders — the former General and Deputy Secretaries — Yadal Krakhovich and Ahudenya si Dal. The two, fondly remembered as the Grandfather and Grandmother of Zilatra respectively, were both killed in the attacks. It has since been confirmed that these were deliberate attacks by anti-Xeroist extremists.

A total of six people died in the explosions, one of whom has since been identified as an assailant who accidentally was caught in the attack. Three other accomplices escaped across the Marisvalorian border into Ischanor, being recorded by security intelligence as they passed through the commune of Pturion Zunes. In a statement from the Zilatran Security Department (ZSD), it was concluded that the terrorists likely took advantage of that specific region of Ischanor as it is currently subjected to secessionist crises and remains a frontline of the war with Vinovia.

It is unknown if the three killers remain in Ischanor or have escaped elsewhere, but it is believed they were Ischanorian nationals. While motives for the attack remain unclear, it is heavily suspected to have been an anti-Xeroist terrorist attack as a consequence of an anti-communist propaganda campaign that has been popularized throughout Southern Ischanor by a number of political parties amidst their ongoing war.

In the aftermath of the attacks, mourners flooded the roads of communes ranging from Hafumel to even the sparse Yaczaya. Diplomats from across the world likewise sent messages of grief to the Zilatran state and people. Announcements flooded news broadcasts and public forums as the Zilatran government and its people reacted to the devastating news.

The Partisan Chair Alisa Nikitina was among the first to issue statements after the passing of the honorable former General and Deputy Secretary:

In this sorrow, we are all united, saying goodbye to our guiding figures. We will make them proud, we will make sure that none of their efforts are ever wasted ... The Zilatran state will be prepared, united, and ready to bring those people who have committed this to justice. The deaths of our former comrades will only strengthen our will and dedication to pursue their legacy, and to defend this nation and the movement it represents to the end.

In the aftermath of the attacks, the ZSD Forensics Team has worked overtime to determine how this lapse in security managed to happen for two of the country's most powerful former politicians.

While the home of Ahudenya si Dal lacked security cameras, it appears explosives were set underneath a floorboard and ignited from afar using a remote control device. Her husband, the honorable Taliyah si Hala was not home at the time of the attack and narrowly evaded death.

At the home of Yadal Krakhovich however, there was extensive surveillance which detailed us how the attackers launched the attack. They broke into his apartment, where they placed explosive devices at the entryway of his home that were ignited by the opening of his front door as he returned home from a work trip. His last words were spoken to the ZSD SSO Wanja Ivanovič as they bid eachother farewell, at which point Comrade Krakhovich left to open his door. Ivanovič was injured, but has since survived his brutal injuries.

In both cases, there were casualties in the neighboring apartments of Yadal and Ahudenya. Among the martyred included one young infant, merely eight months old, named Baqa si Duhad in addition to his mother, a pharmacist, named Duhad si Qadi. The final civilian casualty was an engineer for the Industrial Commissariat named Rahadali si Jaya.

A funeral for the dead will be hosted at the National Mausoleum in New Falka at a pending date.
