In regards to the economy, General Secretary Krahkov and Industrial Commissar Leaf have recently enacted economic reforms in order to increase efficiency, Mr. Krahkov has banned Zilatran citizens from foreign trade, keeping exports to foreigners within a tightly controlled government group. Foreign individuals and entities have also been banned from trading with Zilatra, keeping only trade between national governments.
Additionally, the Zilatran Trade Center has just been opened for the express purpose of inviting foreigners for trade. The aforementioned government committee will oversee all negotiations and contracts, and all foreign trade will occur in the Trade Center.
Lastly, Commissar Lear has enacted controlled price deflation within the Zilatran economy, meaning compensation for work and prices for goods have both decreased. The purpose of this artificial deflation is to decrease the internal costs of labour and industrial output, resulting in greater profits for the state.
