Holy League X ASI
On August 10th, dozen of individuals and representatives gathered in the Palace of the Workers in the Capital. These disparate and distinct people gathered for the conference between the Abexilan Socialist Internationale and the Holy League, meant to settle the tensions and conflicts that had brewed over the previous week.
For context, on the 3rd of August, Luka Crusaden, leader of the Crusader Kingdom, proclaimed the creation of the Holy League, a military and diplomatic alliance between Crusadon, Michava, and Ordreat D'Yvres formed in explicit opposition to what Luka called "The Red Menace". They feared the growth and expansion of the leftist states around Abexilas and so formed a pact between them as a bloc united against all of what Luka called "communist scum". Since then, a number of other nations have either joined or condemned the Holy League, applauding or criticising its actions. The Chimerian Empire, a large nation in the west, has considered aiding or joining them as well, but on the whole they haven't received overwhelming international support.
In the past week since the creation of this league, crusaders and Holy League soldiers have raided towns of ASI nations such as UCRK, Vosdravija, and Zilatra. In our nation, they have readied the towns of Gaszalasi, Lasaji, Hafumel, and Transaria, killing multiple players and causing disruptions to everyday life. However, each of these raids have been dealt with and none have been successful or unchecked. These conflicts, along with a large border conflict between Michava and UCRK predating the Holy League, were motivation for the convening of the meeting in Gaszalasi.
At the conference, Luka entered with a number of goals. He began by pointing out the success of ASI nations, stating, "Our problem might be your success," reiterating Holy League concern with ASI expansion and growth. He then went on to state one of the biggest worries from the Holy League, which was the prospect of ASI-backed socialist revolutions. Luka feared a world where monarchist nations such as his would be threatened by radical leftist uprisings and secessions sponsored by the wealthy and powerful Internationale. However, General Secretary Krakhov spoke for the ASI by stating, "The goal of the ASI is to defend the already established socialist republics. We are not in the revolutionary business. We don't care." This sentiment was shared by other members of the ASI speaking such as Commissar Abusaja si Baqiya.
After these fears were placated, Luka went on to another main request of his. He wanted to see the establishment of "spheres of influence" around Abexilas, essentially dividing the world between the imperialist Holy League and socialist ASI. The was strongly denied by the ASI, with individuals like GenSec Krakhov stating, "I do not agree on the creation of spheres of influence. Every nation ... has the right of influence, of self-determination, and no other country should have the ability to interfere or destroy the ability of self-independence." Luka tried to brush these statements off, but others such as Sin Cheezha of Rattlin strongly pushing, "The concept of foreign intervention directly goes against Xeroist ideals."
After a long discussion, Luka relented, and the conference ended with the creation of the "Five Suggestions." These are:
- Freedom of Religion is guaranteed in all states between Holy League and ASI
- Neither party shall support revolutions benefitting their ideology in foreign non-aligned nations
- Every nation shall have the right to self determination and deciding how they govern themselves
- The Holy League will oppose raiders attacking Socialist states and ASI will oppose raiders attacking non-socialist states
- The ASI is an economic pact and as such will not be a military pact that attacks all as one, all nations have the freedom in it to do what they want.
These have yet to be signed in an official agreement for one particular reason: Michava. Their leader came very late at the end of the meeting and had no official, qualified diplomat attend throughout the conference. They primarily came at the end to begin a separate discussion with UCRK about the border disputes, which occurred after the main meeting. With a few days though, if all goes as planned, the ASI and Holy League will come to these terms to peace and move for greater nonaggression between the two factions.
However, it is not yet clear. Throughout the meeting members of the Holy League made inappropriate and irregular comments, and an individual was attacked and killed today in Transaria, with the culprit unidentified. It seems while this conference was a large step towards peace, it is not the end of discussion for conflict resolution for the ASI.
