How Time Lost Meaning in the Eyes of Stoneworks Staff
The story of Abexilas' current frozen state starts at the very beginning. Eldham and Rathnir both had a number of plugins and features that enhanced the game and expanded what players could do. From brewing, to more custom items, to angel chests, there were many things in Ratham that have been missing in Abexilas for the past 6 months. This can be explained by the fact that Abexilas is significantly larger than either world and has had to grapple with larger player sizes, bigger data storage, and the repeated incompetence of staff. As such, we the player base have gone without many of these things for a long time, even as the staff have attempted to adapt to issues like brewing by making temporary changes like the food items. These released a small number of new foods which give buffs and debuffs. The newest changes being undertaken by the Stoneworks staff are carrying these old features to Abexilas at last, despite their repeated promises and failures to do so for longer than Abexilas has been around.
Another contributing factor to the freeze is the quadrants system. Stoneworks is implementing a new setup where four separate servers will host the full map of Abexilas in four pieces (positive positive, negative positive, positive negative, and negative negative). This change has increased the server's downtime not only due to the difficulty of implementing it, but also because it needs to be integrated with existing features and other changes being made.
Then there is the claims screwup. The Stoneworks admins have backed up Abexilas very infrequently, and somewhere in their working process the current claims of the world were lost. The most recent backup is unfortunately more than a month old, meaning that any changes made since then have been lost. While structures and most other data are untouched, much progress and changes to claims, including claim banks, have been destroyed. This means that the staff now are dealing with the fallout of this, including recompensing for all the funds lost.
The final issue that has contributed to the unknowably long hiatus that has occurred is duping. According to Stoneworks staff, an extensive amount of players have been discovered who have duplicated items, money, and other data for their own benefit. They have been dealing with destroying the items and discovering more damages, while also seeking to punish players and nations who are guilty of this misdemeanour. As of now, one nation is confirmed to be sentenced to destitution, though which it is hasn't been announced.
In conclusion, the current vague stasis of Abexilas has been caused by a myriad of desired changes all being implemented simultaneously, a number of staff screwups causing damages, and the discovery of crimes committed by the player base that the staff now are also working on. It remains to be seen when the server reopens, so all we can do is prepare and be ready to return to the world as a unified and strategic nation.
