Seat VIII of the Kelita up for Grabs

Comrade Pitipivo Vojna Aimo Resigns Seat

WEST HARJUBA — After his attempt to pass the controversial Service Cooperatives Act was met with some of the largest protests in Zilatra history in opposition to its contents, Comrade Pitipivo Vojna Aimo, representative at Seat VIII of the Kelitá and a Zilatra icon, resigned in order to put an end to the crisis at his own cost. It seems as the protests went too far, and forced the beloved Aimo into seclusion.

Aimo's resignation left a vacant spot in the Kelitá as the Constitution mandates a by-election happen specifically in the case of a representative resigned of their own will, as opposed to when it's as an outcome of the Kelitá Independence and "Halt, Officer!" Acts which prohibit Kelitá representatives from simultaneously serving in the Executive Committee or the Zilatra Security Department.

This means that now, in the year 73 VE, Zilatra will hold its third ever Kelitá by-election.

The Seventh Kelitá has been noted for having the most amount of independents in the history of Zilatra's legislature, and Aimo was one of them. And thus, this by-election is the Xeroist Union Party's opportunity to regain one of its lost seats and reinforce its supermajority which it has held since our nation's founding.

Political scholars from Hafumel have stated that "a victory for an independent in the by-election could mark a political shift within Zilatra which the Xeroist Union Party should pay close attention to."

According to reports from the Electoral Commission, the election will be held between the summer of 73 VE and winter of 74 VE as by-elections are required to be shorter than normal. ◾︎

A note from the composing room: since this article was written, Comrade David Venkesel-Sarot was elected to Seat VIII of the Kelitá.
