Zilatra Shoots Big in Kontilabez
Once again, Zilatran athletes have proven that they are among the finest in all of Abexilas. In the fall of 142 VE, citizens journeyed once again to the city of Kontilabez to compete for the honour of our nation.
Among the participants were Comrades Jurij Nikitin, Luka Ronango’O, Pytor Rit’zak-Kerexon, Samintra Bahri-Iletriosa si Rahada, and Horstj, all of whom held their own in the Olympic-style archery competition.
The Archery Games have long been a cherished tradition among Zilatran citizens, who have participated since the very first games were held. The sport embodies not only the ancient skills of war and the hunt, but are also a rooted cultural practice with long standing arenas in Drudakroz-Harjuba and A’Kajden. Even Horse Archery, a Shanak practice, with a set course in Yaczaya, has been added to the roster. In the words of the renowned archer and tournament organizer Polystalian,“the Abexilas Archery Games [are] building the foundation of archery to be a recreational sport and not just something used for combat and defense. Having these games can help shape archery into a shared, peaceful activity. Anyone can do archery, it is a simple yet profound practice. I also wish to preserve the Way of the Bow philosophy, which is about unity with the bow and the balance one must achieve to master it.”
After multiple rounds in the arena, where athletes faces each other in high-stakes sets, Zilatra swept the podium, with Comrades Nikitin, Ronango’O, and Bahri-Iletriosa taking first, second, and third place respectively.
